Providing that the gravel is laid in dry conditions (10 -14 days of dry weather required), and laid onto cross falls or camber to shed water from its surface into adequate drainage, self-binding gravel can be installed in areas of high rainfall.

DCM have various product options suitable for equestrian use:

For use in stables – a non-porous system that is suitable for cleaning. This is based around a sandwich track system but has a harder top coat.

Parade Ring / Trot / Pathway – a porous, non-recycled wetpour pathway system with a high tensile binder.

Bridleways – a porous product, created with a mix of recycled SBR rubber and gravel to create a high-strength surface with an anti-slip finish.

There is a lot of confusion over recent health scares concerning Rubber in the Sports / Play industry. These concerns have been predominantly raised in the USA & Netherlands and relate wholly to Rubber granules used as “infill” granules for artificial turf pitches.

The material that is used for such infill varies a great deal but the most common type is SBR Rubber which comes from Recycled Car & Truck Tyres. In all cases so far there has been no evidential link between SBR and any illness. In Europe, the levels of chemicals considered “toxic” in car and truck tyres has been carefully monitored for over a decade.

The material we supply is guaranteed to be free of toxic compounds and PAH’s. All of our colours have passed the EN 71-3 TOY TEST.

Please email info@dcmsurfaces.com to receive documentation confirming that the products that we use are non-toxic and PAH Free including EN 71-3 (Toy Test).
