At DCM Surfaces, we are used to working on diverse terrains, but this project took our expertise to the high seas. We were commissioned to provide a high-specification safety surface for a play area aboard a luxury yacht.
The Challenge: Marine-Grade Performance
Installing safety surfacing in a marine environment presents unique challenges. The material must be durable enough to withstand constant exposure to saltwater and UV rays while maintaining its aesthetic appeal and safety properties.
Project Specifications:
-
Sub-Base Material: Specialised Marine-Grade White Wetpour.
-
Key Features: Highly durable, UV resistant, and slip-resistant for wet conditions.
-
Application: Play deck featuring custom slides, climbing structures, and activity zones.
The Solution
To meet the high standards of a luxury vessel, we utilised a special white wetpour as a sub-base to provide the cushioning and fall heights required for the equipment. Specifically engineered for marine use. This material provides a seamless, cushioned finish that integrates perfectly with the yacht’s sleek design.
As seen in the following images, the result is a clean, bright, and incredibly safe environment:
-
Play Structure: The eggshell surfacing provides a striking contrast to the red and metallic tones of the central play feature.
-
Aerial View: From above, the surfacing defines the dedicated play deck, ensuring a clear and safe boundary within the ship’s layout.
-
Activity Zones: The wetpour surrounds complex installations, including climbing walls and tunnels, providing consistent fall protection across the entire deck.
Delivering Excellence Anywhere
This installation highlights our ability to adapt our technical surfacing solutions to even the most demanding environments. Whether it’s a local primary school or a luxury yacht at sea, our commitment to a high standard of finish and comprehensive technical support remains the same.
