Sustainability and the Environment

As a company, we understand the crucial role of the construction sector in achieving a sustainable environment. We are fully committed to reducing our carbon emissions, so we prioritise environmental awareness throughout our processes.

Working closely with our supply chain partners, we have made significant strides in recent years towards sustainably delivering our projects and recycling our waste where possible. Holding a waste carrier license, we transport waste from the site to our head office, where we work alongside Biffa to segregate and dispose of our waste responsibly. We recycle wooden pallets and plastic bags and crush and recycle empty metal binder drums.

Our portfolio comprises various recycled products ideal for playground surfaces and landscaping applications – notably Rubber Mulch. Made from recycled rubber tires, it is an eco-friendly and sustainable choice.
The process of turning rubber tires into rubber mulch is relatively simple. The tires are shredded into small pieces and then cleaned and processed to remove any metal, fibres, or other impurities. The resulting material is then ground into tiny shreds, which are used as rubber mulch. The rubber shreds are then coated with colour at least three times to maintain their hue.

One of the most significant advantages of using rubber mulch is that by using recycled rubber tires; we are helping to reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfills.

In addition to being environmentally friendly, rubber mulch offers several benefits over the alternative – traditional wood chips. For one, it lasts much longer than wood chips, which need to be replaced every few years. Rubber mulch, on the other hand, can last for up to 10 years, which means less maintenance and cost over time.

Rubber mulch is also safer for the environment and people. It does not decompose, which means that it does not release harmful chemicals or pollutants into the soil. This is particularly important in areas where children play. Rubber mulch is also slip-resistant, which makes it a safer option for playgrounds and other areas where people might be running or playing.
