Artificial Grass Landscape

Artificial Grass Landscape

Artificial landscape grass provides a natural, ‘just-mown’, all-green looking surface for lawns and patios.

Artificial landscape grass is porous, ensuring that lawns look perfectly manicured any time of the year. It also requires very little maintenance, so there is no need to water, weed, or mow. Those who own pets and find that their animals are ruining their natural lawns often find that artificial grass is the perfect solution. Artificial lawns are pet-friendly and can ensure an odour-free environment.

Are there different types of artificial grass?

Yes, artificial grass comes in various types; some have a shorter pile, a firm touch and more durable. Others have a longer pile, a softer touch and look more authentic. Fine Fibrillated & Monofilament yarns are used to create different version of grass.

Ideally, yes. Sand helps to keep the pile of the grass standing up right, it acts as a weight and more importantly reduces static build up. It also keeps the grass cool in the summer months by retaining moisture and helps the porosity through the system.

Yes, our artificial grass is engineered from the highest quality yarns, ensuring that they contain no toxic properties, such as lead, and making the products safe for children and pets. Any pet waste can be cleaned away easily using lukewarm water and a garden hose, leaving no long lasting effects on the grass.

Once the grass has been installed, it requires a minimum level of maintenance. We recommend a ‘light and often’ technique; meaning regular light brushing to reduce the risk of the fibres flattening and the infill from settling. Over time, you may also want to top up the infill to help rejuvenate the overall look of the grass.

The fibres in the artificial grass are tufted into a very strong backing cloth which helps prevent roots and weeds growing through the surface. However, weeds may occasionally appear on the surface as a result of windblown seeds. Smaller weeds can be removed by hand without damaging the surface. If weeds are removed by hand, it is important to ensure that the root is fully extracted, not just broken off. It is okay to treat the surface for moss & algae twice a year to stop any growth but keep debris/leave free.

Artificial grass is made from either polypropylene or polyethylene yarns, depending on its end purpose. These materials are durable, UV stabilised and are sourced from TenCate Grass, the world’s leading yarn manufacturer. The yarn is tufted into a polypropylene backing cloth and latex back for maximum turf retention and impervious bond.

Artificial grass is porous; our systems have specially designed drainage holes place consistently throughout the turf to ensure water sheds quickly and efficiently, reducing the risk of pooling on the surface. The sub-base, in which our systems are installed on, are designed to provide superior drainage properties.

There are many reasons why artificial grass is more beneficial than tarmac when it comes to play and sport surfacing; users are more active and more likely to participate on artificial pitches and areas, the rate of injuries is reduced because of the consistency and accessibility of the all-weather surfaces and users can reach their full potential when playing on high quality surfaces. Artificial Grass can be fitted with shockpad to provide comfort under foot and meet the sports performance requirements.

Artificial Grass can be laid onto MOT Stone Type 1, Tarmac and Concrete. The grass must be installed to an edge and free draining is required.

It depends on how heavily it will be used and how well it is maintained. DCM have been back on sites over 10 years old and the grass is still in great condition.

The product is UV stable and the colour will not be affected over 7 years. After this time, it will start to slowly fade.

Artificial Grass is manufactured with full environmental awareness and all waste materials are recycled into other products. The yarn needs to be virgin as this needs to be UV stable.

Unfortunately, artificial grass can only be installed in dry weather conditions.
