Leeds Regeneration

DCM Surfaces was commissioned to transform the surfacing of a structural viaduct and adjacent ground-level spaces into a multi-functional community hub as part of a major urban regeneration programme in Leeds. This ambitious project required a sophisticated multi-surface approach.

Project Specifications

  • Location: Leeds, West Yorkshire.

  • Total Surface Area: Approximately 2,100m2.

Key Installations

  • High-Spec MUGA: Installation of 238m2 of Blue & Black Polymeric surfacing. The area features precision line markings for football, half-court basketball, padel tennis, and badminton, providing a professional-grade sports facility for residents.

  • Seamless Connectivity: Over 1,224m2 of Bound Gravel laid onto a Conipave base. This ensures a durable, porous, and UV-stable finish that integrates the viaduct levels with the ground floor.

  • Leisure & Social Zones: 615 m2 of professional-grade “no-mow” Artificial Grass installed over a sand base. These zones host giant outdoor chess sets and social seating, creating year-round green space in an urban setting.

The Challenge Logistics was a primary factor during this installation. Working across elevated viaduct levels necessitated lifting materials in advance. Furthermore, strict “no-parking” urban constraints required precise delivery windows and high-efficiency installation teams.

Result By combining sports-grade performance with aesthetic landscaping, DCM Surfaces successfully delivered a functional, beautiful space that enhances the Leeds skyline. The project stands as a testament to how unused industrial infrastructure can be repurposed for modern community health and wellness.
