The Brief A premium rooftop terrace located in the heart of Westminster required a complete surfacing transformation. The client envisioned a vibrant, visually striking outdoor space that could withstand the elements while maintaining a high-end aesthetic. As a rooftop installation, the project presented unique structural challenges, demanding a specialized engineering approach to guarantee the longevity and stability of the final surface.
The Solution To bring the client’s vision to life, our team specified a premium Resin Bound Gravel system. We installed nearly 400m² of the material at a consistent, robust depth of 20mm. To create a unique and vibrant urban oasis, a striking, bespoke “Forest Green” colour blend was selected, providing a brilliant contrast to the surrounding city skyline.
Technical Execution Rooftop environments require meticulous sub-base preparation. For this project, the Resin Bound Gravel was installed seamlessly over a specialised Raaft Tray system.
To ensure the long-term structural integrity of the terrace, our expert site team incorporated a high-tensile fibreglass mesh layer into the sub-base build-up. This critical technical step effectively absorbs movement and successfully mitigates the risk of reflective cracking, ensuring the resin surface remains perfectly smooth and seamless for years to come.
The Outcome The site team delivered a flawless, highly technical installation. The bespoke Forest Green resin bound gravel completely transformed the Westminster terrace, providing a highly durable, porous, and stunningly vibrant finish that perfectly balances technical engineering with architectural design.
