DCM Surfaces was thrilled to work with eibe play Ltd to create a vibrant, safe, and imaginative play environment at Whipsnade Zoo’s Hullabazoo Outdoor Adventure Play Area. This project required a blend of high-durability materials and creative artistry to match the zoo’s wild atmosphere.

The Challenge

The play area needed to accommodate high footfall while maintaining a high level of safety and accessibility. The client wanted a design that wasn’t just functional but also visually immersive, reflecting the wildlife surrounding the park.

Our Solution

We utilised a combination of high-quality safety surfaces to provide both protection and aesthetic variety:

• Wetpour: Used for the main play zones, allowing for seamless, colorful designs and impact absorption.

• Rubber Mulch: Integrated to provide a more natural, textured look that blends into the outdoor zoo environment.

• Rubber Gravel Mix: Applied to transition areas for maximum durability and slip resistance.

The highlight of the installation was our bespoke graphic work. Our team meticulously hand-installed vibrant Tiger and Rhino graphics into the Wetpour, adding a “wow” factor that sparks children’s imaginations as they explore the equipment.
